Worcester-Glazed Tofu

Ingredients
  • 1/2 block tofu, pressed
  • 4 tsbp vegan Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Japanese sake (optional)
  • salt and pepper
  • black sesame seeds (for garnishing)
 Procedure
  1. Cut half block of tofu into two and fry both until all sides are brown.
  2. Put cooked tofu on kitchen napkins for a while to decrease oil. Then cut each block into four triangles.
  3. Remove oil from pan then, turn on the stove to high fire, then toss back in the fried tofu.
  4. Pour sake and Worcester sauce into the tofu. Mix it well until the tofu is coated with a-bit-thickened sauce.
  5. Arrange tofu on plate and sprinkle with some black sesame.
Tips and Tricks
If you don't have Worcester sauce, a good alternative would be a mixture of vegetarian mushroom sauce, sugar, soy sauce, lemon. I will make a separate recipe on that once I've found the time and fought the laziness to standardize recipes. ^_~

I have tried this recipe, of course using the alternative to vegan worcesteshire sauce (goodness, i don't know where to find one!) - the ever-reliable mushroom sauce.

I love tofu dishes because they are easy to prepare, tastes good, and healthy! Let me share one tofu dish which is similar to this.
